The Lorch Potato Research Center is one of the oldest research centers of the Russian Federation. The work of the Centerc has largely ensured the leading position of Russia as a great agricultural power. Our country is confidently among the three leaders, after China and India in terms of potato production.

At the same time, the Russian potato industry faces many problems. This is the deterioration of fixed assets, the habit of potato growers to use non-certified seed material, and the relative technological gap of our country from the leading countries of the West.

Despite this, we already offer potato growers new species of potatoes, that are not inferior in quality to popular foreign varieties, new services (Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), testing for resistance to nematode and cancer of potatoes, advice on the protection and storage of potatoes, etc.), new technology (aerohydroplane and vacuumizing).

The coming 2020 is a jubilee year for the Lorch Potato Research Center. To the 100th anniversary, the Center together with MAKO Congress Management LLC organizes and holds the international industry event «Potato industry 2020». On July 16, 2020, Lorch Potato Research Center will host “Potato field Day”, and on September 28-29, 2020, Expocenter will host an industry exhibition and an International scientific and practical Congress.

The practical part of the event – “Potato field Day” – is a demonstration of technological processes of potato cultivation using modern technology.

The scientific part of the Event accumulates about 700 specialized specialists from around the World, and the industry exhibition and presentations of science and technology, cultural and educational program and social events will not leave indifferent thousands of guests of Expocenter and all those who cultivate potato, process it and use it for cooking.

The event will become a multifunctional communication platform focused on promoting the value of the potato industry for domestic agriculture, for a productive dialogue between representatives of science, education, financial institutions, the expert community, regional and federal authorities, farms of various forms of ownership and consumers.

The international industry event “Potato industry 2020 “will be held in pavilion 7 of «Expocentre» Fairgrounds.

The Central exhibition complex «Expocentre» is one of the main modern venues in Russia, hosting the largest exhibitions and Congress events on a global scale. Every year it is visited by more than 2 million guests.

«Expocentre» is a place with a half-century history. Nowadays the total area of the exhibition center is about 250 thousand m2, the exhibition area is 165 thousand m2, including 9 exhibition pavilions and 32 halls for holding congresses and conferences.
